Supervisory contact
A real-time interaction between supervisor and trainee. Under 2027 there is no fixed monthly count; the earlier 2022 rules required 4/month (6 for Concentrated).
What it means
A supervisory contact is a real-time interaction between supervisor and trainee, in an individual or group format. The Handbook sets no minimum length for one. Under the 2027 standards there is no fixed monthly contact count — the requirement is the supervision percentage plus cumulative observation minutes with a client. (Under the earlier 2022 standards you needed at least 4 contacts per month on the standard pathway and 6 on concentrated.)
Example
Under 2027, instead of counting meetings you make sure each month hits its supervision percentage and observation minutes.
Where it trips people up
A contact is not the same as an observation. Under the 2022 requirements you need your contacts and the required observation of you working with a client; under 2027 the contacts requirement is gone and the observation is measured in minutes.
